DEFECTIVE DODGE by An MSN Autos Consumer on 06/12/2012. Trim: 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan SE/AVP, Owned 1 year.
Pros: I liked the stow and go seats but had to have them removed for wheelchair access.
Cons: The vehicle is unreliable and neither Chrysler nor the dealership that I bought my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan from "new" will stand behind their warranties.
Overall review: My 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan was towed back to the dealer after I only drove it twice. The transmission was pouring fluid out at 45 MPH but rather than replace a defective transmission that would have sustained damage due to an obvious lack of lubrication the dealership only replaced the transmission pump and axle seals then installed new fluid without so much as removing the pan to determine the level of damage or flush the debris from within the transmission associated with it being run dry. They also left it running in the parking lot all day exacerbating the damage. This vehicle was purchased new for a wheelchair conversion because I need something dependable. And this damage occured with only 20 miles on the odometer. The transmission should have been replaced under the 5 year 50,000 mile warranty or a NHTSA recall like 11V487000 for engine replacement.

The Best Choice for 2012 by Doug, Denver Colorado on 12/30/2011. Trim: 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan SE/AVP, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Performance is great! The Pentastar engine is a vast improvement over pre-2011 engines and provides plenty of power when needed. The interior appearance and function is much more refined and upgraded from previous years. the instrument panel is bright and easy to read, the seating is comfortable with lower back support, great for long distance travel. The stow-and-go seats are easily stored and with little effort you can transport 4x8 plywood/ sheetrock with rear gate down.
Cons: The only "con" I can come up with is the more "boxy " exterior styling which does'nt bother me at all...........in fact it makes the Caravan unique in appearance and you can easily recognize it from the "cookie- cutter" looks of it's competition.
Overall review: After test driving the competition we saved the Dodge for last, we were surprizingly impressed with the performnce and quality! The Dodge blew away the competition for value..........we paid about $4,000 more for a Grand Caravan with many more features and improved performance and quality than we paid in 1995 for our plain-jane ( but very dependable) Caravan. Sadly, we were disappointed to hear that Chrysler has decided to discontinue the Caravan in 2013, opting instead, to keep only the Town and Country. Probably a good decision business-wise sinsce it is basicly the same with a few more bells and whistles...........and it starts at $10,000 more. My advice to anyone looking to get the most bang for the buck is to buy a 2012 Grand Caravan, and to not even try to stifle your knowing smile whenever you pull up to a Honda or Toyota Sienna in traffic. For fairness, our second choice was the Kia Sedona, in our opinion, the only other choice.

THE ROAD HAMMER by JACK, ONTARIO CANADA on 08/11/2012. Trim: 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan SE/AVP, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: the fit and finish are excellent, interior very functional, engine very strong but with excellent fuel economy. brakes are very good. i also find the dash layout and lighting is very good. love the radio controls and other functions on the steering wheel. air conditionong is strong with fast cool down. love the look, very beefy with a nicely finished front end. stow and go very easy to use.
Cons: i found that there is not enough adjustment in the roof rack. although the roof top carrier i have fits it doesnt fit the way i would like it to. the 6 speed transmission works excellent but on our vacation we went up some tall hills and it just dies so i started using the slap shift and knock it back to 5th or 4th and it really made a huge difference. the pentastar v6 loves RPM so if going up large climbs i kept the engine in the 2500 RPM range it did really well.
Overall review: i purchased this van in late may 2012 and in july took it on a 5000km road trip. lots of mountain climbs combined with flat highway. on the way to our destination we averaged 8.5L per 100km and on the way back running into a very strong head wind we were getting around 10L PER 100KM. which in considering i had 5 people a large rooftop carrier and every inch inside crammed with stuff not bad.also it didnt use any oil and never got hot considering the heat we where in and hard climbs up it encountered. no one complained about comfort as the ac kept us cool and the seats were excellent. also should be noted is how quiet the interior is even in strong wind. the suspension handled the weight very well and gave a nice sure footed ride. i found this van eats up the miles and found myself filling up at half a tank simply because it goes forever on a tank of gas and we needed to get out and stretch.
