Bill Gates liked it and so I by Corvallis Guy on 01/27/2008. Trim: 1990 Lexus LS 400, Owned 4 years.
Pros: I bought the car three years ago at 170K and put 50K miles on it. With the air suspension, it may be the most comfortable car on the road. Nakamichi sound system cassette and CD changer works well. Performance is good and gets reasonable highway MPG of 23 at 75 MPH. Very quite. Probably the finest example of a 1990 auto you can get.
Cons: Repair costs: Due to prior owners deferred maintenance, I have put $13,000 into repairs mostly at Lexus dealers in Oregon and Washington fixing steering rack, tie rods, control arms, EGR tube, engine and transmission mounts, alternator, power steering pump, starter, oil pan gasker and much more. The trunk is a little small. A/C (converted to R143A) is inadequate to keep car cool on hot summer days.
Overall review: A great car, but be prepared. Expensive repairs cost could hit you at any time. Thankfully, I have no major engine or transmission problems to date. Dealership service departments treat you like a king, but do not trust them to keep you fully informed about what is needed to keep your car in top shape.

Lexus LS 400 by An MSN Autos Consumer on 09/30/2005. Trim: 1990 Lexus LS 400, Owned 10 years.
Pros: I have owned this car for 10 years and it is awesome, it really hits the sweet spot on performance, handling, touring sedan comfort and being economical to drive.
Cons: The only major repair I have had to do is replace the power steering rack. At $2250 it was painful. On the other hand the car is 15 years old with 157,000 miles with no other major repairs
Overall review: This car is a classic, I expect to put 300,000 miles plus on mine, which at my current driving rate will last another 15 years.

The Ultimate Luxury car from Japan by Thom- Dallas Texas on 09/08/2004. Trim: 1990 Lexus LS 400, Owned 8 years.
Pros: My 90 LS 400 is quiet smooth and overall quite a nice car. The car gets good gas mileage and have wonderfully cold ac. Overall for a 14 year old car iit is close to superb.
Cons: The steering is a little sloppy for a foreign car it feels very much like the old american luxury cars. To explain you bearly have to touch the steering wheel. When they are older you do get some bearing noise that is only heard from the outside of the car as some minor belts and pulleys need to be replaced
Overall review: Not a bad car at all, it retains not only it's value nicely but also the comfort and it's looks. Also Toyota does a great job with the paint and it holds a brillant shine throughout the years

373,000 miles, and still runnin' strong. by JAT0007 from Seattle, Wa on 03/30/2004. Trim: 1990 Lexus LS 400, Owned more than 10 years.
Pros: -Fast - Fun - Reliable - Built tough for long-life use - And it STILL looks good.
Cons: Repairs can be a BIT spendy unless your smart and have connections.
Overall review: Incredible car. With 373,000 miles on the car...it still runs quiet as it did when it was first bought. The repairs have been minimal, while the performance has been great! This is one tough car, with a dash of luxury mixed in. Highly recommend as a very dependable, but yet fast luxury car. I just recently raced a '98-'99 bmw, and I still won.
